LESS Certification Achieved Under the “Old For New” Project with 22 Partner Organisations, Including BITEC. Advancing Circular Economy and Sustainable Development.

Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) has been recognised as one of 22 partner organisations under the “Old For New” project, a collaborative initiative led by SCGP Recycle in partnership with the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) (TGO). The project has successfully achieved certification under the Low Emission Support Scheme (LESS), reinforcing measurable progress in greenhouse gas emission reductions and Circular Economy practices.

The certificates and trophies of recognition were jointly presented by Khun Nakorn Tangavirapat, Executive Director of the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO), and Khun Danaidej Ketsuwan, Chief Financial Officer and in charge of Packaging Materials Recycling Business at SCGP, to partner organisations in recognition of their contributions to the project.

The certification on behalf of BITEC was received by Khun Jarupa Yindeemoh, General Manager – Venue Management & Services, reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to responsible resource management and sustainable venue operations within the MICE industry.

Driving Measurable Environmental Impact

The “Old For New” project represents a collaborative effort to systematically manage used paper by returning materials to the recycling process. The initiative promotes effective waste segregation at source and environmentally friendly paper production processes, reducing landfill waste and replacing virgin materials in manufacturing. These efforts help lower resource consumption, minimise waste generation, and mitigate environmental impacts in line with Circular Economy principles.

SCGP Recycle has further elevated the project through certification under the Low Emission Support Scheme (LESS) in the waste management category. This certification serves as credible verification of tangible greenhouse gas emission reductions achieved through structured recycling operations.

During the implementation period from 1 January 2024 to 30 September 2025, the project collectively reduced greenhouse gas emissions by more than 4,027,060 kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent (kgCO₂e), in accordance with the assessment criteria under the LESS framework. This figure represents the combined achievements of all 22 participating partner organisations.
